Yup,, I now have a new phrase to use ,taken from that artical,,,, "if you want peace,, prepare for war." truer words were never spoken.

Do any of you remember the movie "Patton"?

This was the scene early in the movie, where he described the final siege and battles that ended Carthage.

Patton knew.

Read his letters to the NRA, I will try to find them; that praise the work of the NRA instructors that trained the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps from the beginning to the end of WWII. My Grandfather, Charles William Bell was one of those.

Patton knew.

H. Norman Schwartzkopf also knew.

I wonder if any of our other Generals know. I would like to think that we can still boast a few Marines, Sailors and Soldiers who know.

What is it that Patton knew?

"Peace, is fleeting. It must be earned, constantly. It must be defended, vigorously. It must be taught to our children, lovingly."

These words are Patton's, not mine. They come from a letter to his cousin where he explains his decision to remain in the Army after WWI.
