Well as a Former Marine, DiOrio's stance sickens and disturbs me. His refusal to uphold the 2nd Amendment, that he swore an oath to protect, is disgusting. If you don't agree with the Constitution, then you don't swear an oath to protect it. If you did take that oath, then you should abide by it. As far as I'm concerned my oath had no expiration date.

Idk what hoops you jump thru during a background check but It only causes me a 5min wait to get a non nfa gun. Nothing will stop a determined individual from committing a crime. but supply criminals with guns legaly is just plain stupid. In your mind why have ANY laws at all hell making murder illegal never stopped anybody. Laws dont prevent anything they only deter the halfhearted. telling someone to go kill themselves is just ignorant, and its statements like that that make gun owners look and sound crazy and dont help the cause at all.

Background checks should be stopped.
I have only had two approvals after background checks by the FBI. The first took about a year and involved letters and many telephone calls. Of course, an approval after a year is worthless.
The second approval only came after I had drove the 75 miles back home from the Gun Show. There were many denials for purchase.
I have owned, and still do own, submachines guns since 1968. I was also a FFL dealer, a licensed machinegun dealer, and a licensed gun manufacturer.
I am also retired US Military.
....and the FBI can't do a quick background check and approval on me.
Heck, when I applied for a CCW, it took the Department of Public Safety FIVE months to get approval from the FBI for the CCW. The FBI still refused to provide any information on me to the Department of Public safety.
Which brings up the question...what does the FBI know about me that I don't know, and which can't be released to the State??
In Oregon I point at the gun, say 'gimme', hand them my drivers lic. The salesperson calls the OSP, says "Hey Wanda, got a name for you to run... Yea the kids are good, hows yours? good! Name is...my name...No felonies? Ok thanks! See you soon. *click* okay sir will that be cash or card?"
It doesnt bother me, because I know quite a few felons in Oregon that have firearms, and didnt buy it through a store/FFL dealer. So the background check, while mostly pointless, is there because it is there.
I cant say i appreciate the comments made by some on here, but am in complete agreement with those that agree that an Oath is an Oath, and it does not expire. If i ever decide to break the Oath I took on April 20th 2003, I will be sure to send everyone my forwarding adress in Venezuela.... But that just isnt gonna happen.

AS FAR AS GUYS HAVING TROUBLE WITH BACK GROUND CHECKS I THINK THAT THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR IT ON THE AGENCY DOING IT . IF THEY CAN CHECK YOUR CREDIT IN 5 MINUTES THAY CERTAINLY TELL IF YOUR A CRIMINAL OR HAVE BEEN DELCARED MENTLAY ILL.

As far as Hoops.. and stupid goes.. I'll outline the hoops some states require.. 1) a Finger print 2) a gun safe or gun Lock 3) a paper record and or electronic record 4) one gun a month 5) Magazine Capacity restrictions 6) A waiting period of many days...you may wait 5 min today, but tomorrow with a federal ban you may wait 10 or more days to pick up a gun soon...7) proof of residency, more paperwork 8) Safe handling Demo (more paperwork) 8) Registration in the states computer data base avail to any LEO on a traffic stop. 9) Safe gun roster (only tested and approved guns are allowed to be sold in that state) even the same model with a different finish is not allowed..unless tested separately ot manufacturers expense.. 10) Handgun Safety Certificate cards or permits $25 more paperwork and money 11) DROS paperwork fees to the state $25 more of your hard earned money.. 12) state taxes (more money)

those hoops are all STATE imposed tho here in PA you fill out 1 form for a longgun, 2 for a pistol (the second form is bs) they callit in and you leave 5-10 min total. Same for a ccw license. I lived in hawaii for a few years and it wasnt worth tryn to get a gun out there, again its state law. if you dont like the state laws move there arev plenty of gun friendly states.
I get delayed over 50% of the time becouse I was charged twice with DV by Cincinnati police.I was never convicted but it shows up on my background check.I prefer to buy my stuff FTF as I don't think the government needs to know what I have.
