E.J. Potter, "The Michigan Madman", on one of his early Widowmaker drag bikes. Fuel injected small block Chevy. Direct drive - he'd start the bike on the centerstand, bring up the revs, and roll off the stand with the tire spinning. I think this shot is from the 1960s. Later bikes used a Crowerglide-style centrifugal clutch.

"Ignorance can be a powerful tool; far too many projects have been aborted before birth because they were clearly impossible. Meanwhile, those who don't know it's impossible frequently go ahead and do it anyway."

- E.J. Potter, as quoted in Hot Rod Magazine, circa 2001

DOD jacket patch, from the world's first virtual motorcycle gang, circa 1992. We inhabited the usenet rec.motorcycles newsgroup. There were still machines with bang paths then, and minis and mainframes served clusters of users on terminals.

In a moment of what in retrospect was surely an early sign of senile dementia, Mary Shafer organized a DOD get-together and group tour of NASA Dryden. The stories of the Denizens vs. NASA's security people kept newsgroup traffic high for quite a while...

379 CID Cleveland stroker I put together some years back, for a DeTomaso Pantera. Australian 2V heads, aluminum rods, and a 250hp nitrous setup.

My car project that keeps getting sidelined by Gun Projects.
