Star Spangled Banner or Artistic Freedom??

Rene Marie, an admired jazz singer, was slated to perform the national anthem at the State of the City event in Denver, Colorado. But instead she sang what is referred to as the “Black National Anthem” ,”Lift Every Voice and Sing” to the music of the Star Spangled Banner.

No I'm not predigest, I just think if you are asked to sing the Star Spangled Banner you need to sing the Star Spangled Banner.
Not remake something to your liking.
So what do you guys think was this disrespectful or not?

I think that she is well within her rights to sing what the hell ever she wishes too... on her own time; she was invited to sing a specific song, and what she sang was not it. She is a racist of the likes of Jerimiah Wright and others in the black community. She and her ilk will the responsible if the whites ever decide that they have had enough of the crap and rise up against the "reversed racism" , this could be just the first salvo in the a rise to a national race war. God save our country if this is ever carried out.

I saw a lot of wtf looks on the faces of the people there. She is a racist hiding under the excuse of "artistic statement". I am kinda curious why the second guy away from her kept his hand over his heart, no one else was.

So much for trust, so much for integrity, just do whatever you want and and make the excuse that it's about "freedom". I say she did it just for spite, what a strange way to attempt to gain respect. Of course, there will be those who will support her and admire this act of defiance.
