Pretty obscure law. Not all hunters can know every sub section in every law in every state, so I feel it was just an excuse to fill the Fish & Game coffers. At least,,,, it's the fault of the guide for not knowing this, and he should be the one held responsible, not Ted. Lots of gung ho rookie wardens out there looking to make a name for themselves, and this was there opertunity to do so. Ted and I have both hunted for about the same # of years and were only a year apart in age and I can tell ya, I can tell when I got a good hit on game and when I don't, just as I'm sure Ted can. Probibly more so for him as he has the bucks for all these hunts and he goes all over the place and he gets allot more hunting in than I do. I've been hunting sense I was 13 and I can tell ya within an inch, where that round or arrow went, no problem. No doubt so can he. The guide screwed up,not Ted, but Ted paid the piper for this mistake. What's the big deal? Happens to even the best hunter eventually.

Might be an obscure law reference, but "ignorance of the law is no excuse". The producers and other people associated with the show should have done their research and made sure everything they were doing was legal.

But hey, Ted can afford the $10K so every one should be happy. The state gets a small windfall, Ted got his bear, the anti's got their media coverage. Win, Win, Win. :-D

Ted should be prosecuted for the crimes he committed and just because he is rich an famous does not mean he does not have time to read the states hunting regulations.
all this hunting for TV it killing it for other hunters. I know guys who try to do it and there more concerned with sponsors , prostafing for this or that company, selling there movies and making sure the kill is caught just right on tape. half those shows are filmed on game farms. the TV BS has caused more and more land owners to start charging for permission to hunt and huge amounts of land are being bought by wealthy hunters an hunting lodges as investments and a place to have all to them selves.

Im sure MR ted did nothing more than get off a plane and stay in a 5 star lodge before he whet on his high dollar baited hunt were he was practically guaranteed a shot. that fine is likely less than he spent on the lodging and air fair. He will make 10 times that for just showing up an putting his mug on camera. If he is the great conservationist then why is hunting for profit???? lets be clear he is hunting for profit not to save the environment. He is a trophy hunter and can care less about the meat

    Default Ignorance???

"Ignorance of the law is no excuse"? Hell, it's the best excuse. I get a ticket from some 12 year old POS not even through the academy yet for an 'Obscured Vehicle Tag'. The plate holde covered a little of the lettering but you could still read it. I made a comment to a friend of mine that's an attorney, and he asked me the judges' name. He gave me an envelope the next day to take to court. When I went to court I showed the judge 3 pictures, one of his car, one of his wife's car and one of his daughter's car, all with the same 'violation' as me. He dismissed the case cursing at the deputy, then turned his ire towards me, demanding how I knew what cars his family drives. I whispered to the baliff that if I was asked that question again the whole county would know. He told the judge and then the judge wished me a good afternoon.
    Screw 'em Never buckle.
Too many people fought and died and spent the rest of their lives missing body parts so that my rights would be secured. I'll be damned if I'll dihonor them by bending over no matterr how the thug is dressed.

''Transporting it off the island made it a violation of the federal Lacey Act.''

The frikkin Lacey Act. Give me a break. This is the same illegal law that the federal goons rolled into play so that they could send armed thugs to Gibson guitars and harass them for having wood.

Congress can scribble a bunch of shit down on paper,
but that does not make an unlawful law, lawful.

I wish Ted would have called for a jury trial. As a juror, Americans should refuse to uphold any charges based on an illegal law. The 4th check and balance.

    Factor in.
When you hire a guide. His job is to find game and know the local laws.
I dont know their laws or where to hunt. If I did, why the hell do I need a guide, unless required by State Law.
Now if Ted was told by the guide "not too take another bear" then his bad, he is at fault.
    Cameras, crew, guide.
Ted did the correct thing. He admitted his mistake and did not roll on the guide. He took the blame to save the poor guys license.
Stand up guy in my opinion.

Many others have been bagged by the authorities for the same thing over the last few years. It doesn't help to be on the administration's "enemies list" either. This is just the beginning in a series of actions against Ted Nugent and other high profile folk. I'm sure that the current administration will be targeting Uncle Ted for other so called "violations" in order to shut him up. Especially now as he has publicly supported Romney and has lined up a hunt with him ahead of the elections. We will likely see other attempts to discredit other so called "enemies" going forward. This adminstration is beyond corrupt - they are criminal and "Operation Fast and Furious" is just one example of many.
