Simple answer...The cold war never ended. Russia has "regrouped" and is testing the waters. They have made it clear that the whole "we're protecting our own people" reasoning behind them invading Georgia was as phony as the day is long. NATO and the US got caught with their thumbs up their ass. We'd better hurry up and get our shit together on this or they'll keep pushing.
