You should do as instructed by Homeland Security (run and hide).

Active Shooter Protocol

How to Respond When an Active Shooter is in Your Vicinity

Please adhere to response procedures below for responding to an Active Shooter in your building. If you can evacuate the area, please do so in as safe a manner as possible.

Secure your immediate area:

•Lock and/or barricade doors with any available object(s) (chairs, tables, desks, etc)
•Turn off lights
•Close blinds
•Block windows
•Turn off computer monitors
•Keep occupants calm, quiet, and out of sight by laying low to the ground
•Keep yourself out of sight and take adequate cover/protection (i.e. concrete walls, desks, chairs, tables, filing cabinets, etc.). Such cover may protect you from injury
•Silence cell phones
•Place signs in exterior windows to identify the location of injured persons

Contacting Authorities:

•Dial 911 or 9-9-1-1 from any campus telephone. Be aware that the 911 system will likely be overwhelmed.
•Program the Campus Security emergency line into cell phone for emergency use. Extension 4444 or 366.4444 (emergency line)

What to Report:

•Your specific location- building name and office/room number
•Number of people at your specific location
•Injuries- number injured, types of injuries
•Assailant(s)- location, number of suspects, race/gender, clothing description, physical features, type of weapon(s) (long gun or hand gun), backpack, shooter’s identity if known, separate explosions from gunfire, etc

Un-Securing an area:

•Responding special forces will assist in un-securing and rescuing victims who are locked down; Consider risks before un-securing rooms
•Remember, the shooter will not stop until he/she is engaged by an outside force
•Attempts to rescue people should only be attempted if it can be accomplished without further endangering the persons inside a secured area.
•Consider the safety of masses –vs- the safety of a few
•If doubt exists for the safety of the individuals inside the room, the area should remain secured

Security Response:

•If possible, limit suspect(s) movement(s) by securing all unaffected buildings; evacuate victims to safety; provide master keys and logistical support to responding special forces and emergency medical services
•Facilitate basic first aid or triage injured victims if possible
•Assist law enforcement authorities with investigation

Aren't you the same guys that wanted teachers armed to rpotect their students? If they followed your tactical plan they would look at the students, say have a nice day and leave them as they evacuated the building. And YES, it is EXACTLY the same thing. No teacher has an obligation to die to protect your kids, you may not like the sound of that but it is 100% true. Look at what teachers did at Sandy Hook to protect their students and got killed for it. Yet you, with a gun, would leave the scenario you painted and let the gunman kill as many as he could before either someone else stepped up or the cops arrived and he was stopped by them or killed himself.

I have to ask you how you would feel if you wife, son, daughter, mom, whatever was walking down that street and was shot by that gunman and someone there had the ability to stop it and said "Not my problem" and slunk off...
Don't Generalize!!!!! These are individuals, not Union Reps....

AGHHH!

I can not even get through this thread without losing all of my brain!

So, My $0.02. No Judgements, No recriminations.

IF~ I still had a CCW, which in The Peoples Republik of Kalifornia would be a real trick. I think that I might just evaluate each circumstance on it's own merits.

Mother and Child in Danger (Danger of "Life or Limb" as the Kalifornia Penal Code states it).....I have no questions, I have no restraints. Even in Kalifornia, I can just shoot the Perp. An amazing anomaly in the Penal Code to be sure.

Robbery over money? I think I'll just stand down.

Two Knotheads slugging it out over who gets to bang the slime-queen? Not really interested.

Some guy shows up in a Mall like he's ready for the second battle of Fallujah and starts shooting? I think I would really try hard for 1/10th of a second to take him alive....Then the Lesser Angels of my Nature might just prevail.

All of this is academic of course, since I no longer hold a CCW Permit. And I have no chance of getting another unless I run for public office, or pay off some Democratic Politician.

Velcome to Kalifornia! Now go HOME!

you see why these "what if" posts don't work. Mr FU keeps telling me, he got or getting training. well if he had training, he would not be posting stupid replies
Exactly, couldn't even asnwer the "what if" question and just wants to twist the thread into something else, it will never change

You guys crack me up. I stated what I would do and said I was done here. Like a bunch of jackals you pounce on me after I left.

What a bunch of internet tough guys some of you are. And it seems that's ALL some of you are.

Now attack all you want I am done with this topic. Let me help you with some of your usual insults so you don't have to look up how to spell them AGAIN...Communist, Socialist, Liberal, Leftist, anti-gun, Obama lover, and oh yeah the famous LibTard...

Isn't it time for all of you to go whine some more about the panic buying you helped create?

By the way, I answered the what if question repeatedly. I said I WOULD shoot to stop an active shooter in a public place.

Hey FyredUp, what's an "anit"?

Anit, also spelled Enit, and it is a name of an ancient Egyptian goddess. She was depicted as a female wearing a headdress similar to that of Meskhenet. She is often referred to as the consort of Menthu.

Cool!

Please note I'm not picking, just having some fun.

No jackeling here FU,, just saying conscience is one thing ,,consequences in making a mistake are worse. To many "what if's" to make an outright statement one way or the other on this scenario. And I'm just about as far from "Mr Internet Tough Guy" as you can possibly get. After all the discussions we've had in the past, you should know that about me by now. I try to stay pretty level headed.

I must admit though,, if I was in that situation I'd have to know exactly what was happening from the start, before I did anything one way or the other. To be honest, one could get themselves in a world of grief if it was a family dispute going down. I've seen those take on a life of there own,, when it's all about something stupid that don't amount to a hill of beans. If you've been in any form of law enforcement before,,you know what I'm talking about. I've seen some stuff where you'd think 2 people are just about to kill each other,, the next second ,,,,all is well with the world, all "lovey dovey",,,it happens all the time.

Your training should have taught you that,,,

Been in the middle of domestics as a Firefighter/EMT, not a funplace to be because you simply can't win.

I clearly said in my comments an ACTIVE shooter, meaning he was shooting anyone and everyone he could in front of him. If I was in a position to shoot them and stop them I would. It is that simple to me.

But I will leave with this. I could not, in good conscience walk away doing nothing, from an active shooter situation, while armed with a concealed carry weapon.

You opinion may vary. Have a nice evening!
