Post1911 best inexpensive single action 45acp

what is the best bang for buck in a single action automatic 45acp?

this is limited to brand new in the box pistols.

no doubles at all--and no plastics

I'd say the Ruger Blackhawk convertible.. get a .45LC cylinder as a bonus..
I've seen them for sale used lately around $400, new for less than $500

LOL, not sure why I associated single action just with revolver.. just a reflex, I guess..
and the poll choices didn't show up originally...

I picked the RIA in either Tactical or 14-round (never tried the double-stack RIA, tho), and with the hi-point as a bonus- they're damn cheap- ugly, and heavy, but simple & the warranty is unmatched.. but they ARE plastic...

That Blackhawk is certainly the most reliable. I have had a .45 convertible Blackhawk for years.
I voted for the Rock Island GI @ $365, though. I buddy of mine asked me this exact question a few weeks ago and I recommended that pistol. We shot it right out of the box the same day with hardball, 230 grain JHPs, and some of my handloads using the Lee 230 TC cast bullet. All were 100% function, and minute of clay bird at 50 yards.

the RIA 1911a1 does seem to be a top pick for the low price.

i can't believe the witness match hasn't gotten any votes yet. it is a pro-shop built shop gun for $500! maybe $500 is a bit much for a bang for buck gun? and the witness match looks so good in 10mm!

I have owned a 1991A1 colt, ss loaded springfield and a kimber ss gold match. The loose as a goose colt with 25k rounds through it would outshoot the brand new very tight springfield. The kimber has been the most accurate of the three. The few para guns I have shot have all been very accurate. I was going to get a ss p14 limited before the awb hit and drove the mag prices into the ridiculous range. I don't really care for the witness type guns even though they have an excellent reputation. Thats just me being stubborn. But there is something about a hand fitted gun that a run of the mill factory gun can't touch. If you like the witness and can get a hand fitted one for $500 I'd jump on it. I paid around $1000 for my kimber ss gold match direct from kimber a few years ago when they were going for $1200-$1300 with their super match another $500 above that.

Lot of good .45s out there.
My Glock .45 model 36 I can hit a barn door at 10 yards.
My Norinco I can hit the barn at 25 yards. So I dont know j4.
Think I will join up with Acorn. Scam as much money from the Guberment as I can and buy some more .45s.
Got too be a good one out there.

I dunno, I've heard good things about the STI spartan, but that was a few reviews...
Their 2011 frames look pretty cool, though they are expensive as all hell.
