Do you think with all of what is about to happen that the National Guard will begin coming through and picking up our weapons like as done in Louisiana? Armed military combing through neighborhoods with your registration information listing your weapons. Will we be even allowed to keep only one weapon for self defense? Would there be only single shot weapons allowed in the hands of US citizens? Do you believe that we may only keep a weapon of a specified caliber?

Unlikely scenario, what with the recent SCOTUS decisions and the various states response to the NO confiscations. If it did happen, no guns would be left behind and Martial Law would be in effect. Depending on the circumstances, you'd either have a lot of guns in a warehouse, or a lot of NG guys in the infirmary.

Two things I was watching CNN back when Clinton sent troops to Haiti to disarm the populis. They were inter viewing a Captain and he said something to the effect of this was a dry run for the US in the future. I never saw that clip again but I never forgot it either.

My state recently passed a law that in a state of emergency they can take your weapons. For our own good of course!

And this is the classic argument for AR style weapons.

Buy them. Get 80% lowers. If this kind of SHTF does happen, give them the stripped and numbered lowers. Disperse your ammo.

If they attempt it, it will be regrettable.
Another thing I feel, is that they have missed their window of opportunity.
After 9/11 the world changed.
Millions of new gun enthusiasts were created shortly thereafter.
A horrendous mistrust of government now exists whereas before, not so much.

Right now, they (US gov.) are picking their battles with the people. I don't see them picking that battle anytime soon, though one day it may happen. It won't be pretty if it comes to pass.

Yes. If you are jewish settler you can keep as many as you want. If you are gentile you can keep one firearm for self protection. If you are an arab or palestinian you can't even have a knife on you. Those will be new rules in USA soon.

I was in New Orleans after Katrina doing search and rescue. I was never given an order to confiscate firearms, and if I had been given such an order somebody would have gotten their a$$ beaten. You would have seen somebody on the news with a size 9 boot shoved up thier a$$.

The NG is made up of part-time "Citizen Soldiers", your gun loving neighbors and friends. My unit is in east Texas and there would certainly be a mutiny if we were told to violate citizens rights in general.

From what I have heard the confiscations happened within the first days after the storm. By the time we got to New Orleans we were told to stay out of people's houses, no violations of peoples property and there were rules to protect people's rights. In the first few days cops were kicking in doors and searching for bodies, then they smartened up and realized the liability of doing so.

As a NG member for 22 years I have my own personal firearms and the same beliefs as the rest of you.
