how many mags are enough ?

with the "either way" election, uncertainty fills the air,

if the wrong amigo gets in office we will probably see a ban of so called " assault rifles" we will probably see ammo regulated, taxed and restricted and we will certainly see a return of the hi-cap mag ban for all law abiding tax paying citizens.

maybe we'll get lucky and our old mags can be grandfathered in --

that being the case how many mags will you need for say one AR-15 , AKM clone or FN-FAL ?

this is mags PER firearm --pistols also count.

My goal is 12 thirty rd mags per AK.I have about 30 EastGerman teardrop mag pouch.

HMMMM ID LIKE TO HAVE THREE OR FOUR PER GUN BUT RELIZE THATS A LOT OF MAGS TOTAL THAT INTERCHANGE I HAVE MORE THAN ONE GUN LOL.

ID RECOMED GETTING WHAT EVER GUNS THE CHINEASE USE AS WHEN THEY INVADE WE CAN JUST TAKE THERE MAGS

Like biggun said. We owe the Chinese some major major coin. If Nappy gets back in, God forbid.. Oh their coming to collect.. Oh yes they are not happy with us..
I am going to save money and pick up from the Chinese, who do not need them anymore..
They have cool helmets and belt buckles, might grab a few of them to.

well you got to have ammo for the shooting irons to fill the mags--

hell i even ordered a few from CDNN and i even bought some questionable mags those 20rd thermoulds they sell for $4.65 20round mags are the only ones i am short of.

i would guess that the bare-bones effort would want at least 6 mags per semi in rifles and at least three mags for a semi pistol.

if i had to recommend i would say at least 12 mags per rifle and 5 mags per pistol -- pistols are sort of a quandry as you'll want more mags for a 1911 than you'll need for a hi-cap gun like a glock or CZ- rule of thumb two to one for a low cap like a 1911

as far as how many mags i got hell i don't even know as their packed in USGI footlockers. i probably got about 25-30 good mags per ar-15 and about 18-20 per AKM type. i got one metal trashcan full of "JUNK" mags that only work on a good day---LOL!

i recently merged my 223 AKM clones with an AR-15 mag block conversion.

i would guess that the gunco types probably got plenty of mags and ammo.

after all we have had years to pick up a few here and there.

this question is more for the newbie that just bought a hi-cap semi of some sort starting form the ground floor--

i would want at lest a dozen good mags for my first ar-15 --

Kind of a tough question j4. Sure it is always good to have lots of mags, if for nothing else, grandfathered collections sake.
From a Military perspective. Again great to have to much ammo. But..
Keep in mind, those guys are not just carrying ammo.. Food, water, medical supplies, shelter possibly, ammo for the squad auto weapon, etc..
Weight adds up fast... Damn.. I got to pick up one of those new M-4? the youngguns are carrying now. My God their heavy..
Guess it would depend on if your stationary or on the move..
