No baiting in IN. for deer, I think you can hunt in a farm field that has corn or beans in it as long as it was grown there. You can't bring anything into the hunting aera.

Anyone in IN know about farmers' deprevation/deprivation permits? From my limited knowledge I thought you could do damn near as you please (or allow on property) any time of the year as a farmer as long as you had the papers from the DNR! I'm sure I could persuade a friendly farmer or two if I could back it up!

I would contact DNR directly to get the straight poop, but I have heard said permit basically reclassifies deer as varmints on that particular property. One local guy says he keeps his registered M16 in the combine during harvest for the occasional deer that jumps out ahead of him. No restrictions on guns used at least and open season is basically alll year long.

Dunno about baiting with a depredation permit, but IIRC "feeding" them during closed seasons is OK as long as the food is gone several weeks in advance of open season.

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly

In MD you can bait deer, rifles are restricted except for a few counities out west and the Eastern Shore so it's bow, muzzel loader, and shotgun.....and in the counties around DC and Baltimore and in between (PG, Howard, etc....) there is no limit on does, it's as many as you can take.

I shoot 'em under the feeder. It's more about filling the freezer with a clean hit for me.
