Default Scope recommendations wanted

I am looking for recommendations for a scope for my Ruger No.1 in 220 Swift. It being a classy American made rifle, I want an American scope of like quality. This rig will be used for varmint hunting.

Leupold is what I'm leaning toward, but any recommendations as to which one? I've always been a fan for a fixed power, but the Swift needs a scope with a lot of magnification. 4 x 12 or should I go for more?

Another vote for Leupold here. 4-12 should do fine, all depends on what your wallet can handle. The VX-11's with the LRD in 50mm are sweet

the burris is a good deal for the money. hat are you hunting or what range are you using it for?? I honestly perfered the burris over a leupold i tried last year. keepmin mind that a 50mm lense will require it to be mounted higher and this makes a higher cheek weld. I like a 44mm ense on my varmit rifles. but i shoot them mostly in the middle of the day so light is not a issue. 220 swift is a fast long range shooter I personaly would want at least 18X power for varmits or targets out past 300 yards. i have 6.5x24x 44 on my varmit rigs. if your hunting coyotes or other buigger game then a 12X may be fine.

Leupold and Nikon are VERY good (but very pricey).
Cabela's Alaskan guide series ALWAYS get good great reviews and seem to be a good buy.
