Default Waterfowl hunting and bird flu

Anybody heard if the bird flu is affecting waterfowl hunting this year? 6 months ago people were speculating that the bird flu would hit the USA in 6 months.
Well is it here? Any issues hunting waterfowl this year? Is fish and game testing birds for it?

I going to go kill some geese soon!

I know where I live the health dept. is looking for people to report any "fresh" dead birds, I'm presuming that's what they're interested in. But I haven't heard anything from the waterfowlers where I live here in NW Washington State.

They have not found the Asian bird flue strain in the US yet. West Nile virus also kills birds. My buddy lives in an area that they designated a West Nile hot spot a while back and he had an abnormal amount of dead birds on his property during that time (Mostly pigeons and doves) until the county went on a fumigating kick.

I forgot about west nile, I may be going pheasant hunting but I think they 're safe as they are released birds. Wonder if that will affect Grouse as well?

We did have some crows in WA that were positive for the virus. WA is one of the last states to get hit by virus. I think someone last year also was positive for the virus but they came back after getting the virus out-of-state. or so they think. We also do not have the mass waisting diesese here like the midwest has in dear pop. But we had the first ever mad cow.
