Here's a good movie (1984) called "Threads". It's an old Soviet-West "Cold War" movie about life in the U.K. in the aftermath of a nuclear exchange:

Not much instruction on survival skills but shows how a lot of preparation and foresight could go a long way. I prefer to expand the view to full screen myself.

But catch the one if you can on "A world without Oil." History Channel.
Super interesting on Survival techniques.
People dont understand until they loose power how much they are missing.
Down here in Florida "Hurricane Alley" we really are Survival Oriented.

Living in the great smoky mts, I always make sure I have plenty of fuel ,food, ect. Kinda nice when the power goes out and we are the only ones with lights, water & food. plus plenty of ammo. Some people never get it. They always think the stores will be open. Also, thanks to all the forum members for all the tips. Wish everyone a great New Year.
This is the main point to survival in my mind. People have become complacent that the government will provide and that water comes from the tap and stores will always have food. Right?....Thats where they go to get food so they will never run out.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard friends and even family talk about if something happens they'll just run to the store and stock up on stuff. I'll call them idiots to their faces and then explain that if they have that idea eveyone and their mother have the same idea. The likelyhood that supplies will be left is a crap shot.
Still we educate the poor sheepeople all we can. Its not about what the news calls "survivalist" its about being prepared for whatever happens so you and yours will survive it with minimal distress.
