I found them very helpfull on the phone and the kit was not expensive in my opinion.
I ordered a box of 12 sets, 3-0, 19mm, 3/8 round, cosmetic cut, 18" long nylon. tripple packed in an alcohal bath. Thies will be great for most any simple close up. I.E. accidental saw or knife cut. if I were to fall and split my knee thies will work great to hold the flap closed. if I have to remove a foreign object like a large splinter thies will again work great to close it up. Allmost anytime I need to do a simple close up.
In the past I have used a strong carpet thread and a straight needle, it worked ok BUT any job is better with the proper tools. Hopefully I will not need them again but I have them if I do.

Keep Super Glue in the kit as well. It is the same glue (Indermil is a skin adhesive (skin glue). or Derma Bond ) used by medical personnel to close wounds.

DEF!! I work with my hands alot and My skin dries badly and I use superglue all of the time for just this reason!

It's pretty amazing to watch a bleeding wound quickly "knit" together with cyanoacrylate glue. Even cooler is to watch someone practiced at it work through the blood, looks like it's never going to work when suddenly, the bleeding simply stops and the wound edges are bound together.

Several coats of super glue on the finger tips will obscure finger prints as well. Jus' sayin'.

The wife has sewed me up several times with a needle and thread. It aint easy,but good tequila helps

Well, maybe if it's Cuero Gold.

Another good item for first aid kit is Chia Seeds.
very nutrious and helps stop bleeding absorbs 9x their weight in moisture
