Wife and I went out to the grocery store this evening. We bought up all of their canned ham, spam, vienna sausage, canned corned beef. This will be a lot easier to eat instead of just all of these Emergency ration bars.

Make a little fire out back and spice up some of this canned meat will save the soul in the long times to come. We also got dog food for Henry and Lisa. We can eat that too.

Wife said it is time to stock again last weekend. I am so proud of that girl!

She told me to get another solar panel too. :-) :-)

Just like you did for weapons and ammo, it is now time to do the same for food and water. Look at the prices going up slowly now. Even though we are still pretty much at PEACE?

Can you survive economic crisis?

Booming preparedness industry says Americans are stockpiling

Snippit:

To some, the term "survivalist" conjures images of camouflage-clad men stockpiling freeze-dried food in a mountain cabin, but in the current economic crisis, the people quietly preparing to survive catastrophe may just be your next-door neighbors. In his column in last month's Financial Times, business and technology expert Ade McCormack writes, "The world is in crisis and with it the world of business. Many of us have two plans. Plan A involves President Barack Obama performing some economic magic. Plan B involves a revolver, a vegetable patch and a subscription to Survivalist Monthly."

"It's been dramatic, nothing short of dramatic," Heid told WND. "The survivalist mentality used to be considered a fringe element, but now that economic times are such as they are, many more average, regular folks are adopting the same set of preparations." Heid told WND what's most notable is that his boom in sales isn't coming from just the usual survivalists stocking up for a Y2K-like event. "Ninety percent of our increase in business is new business," Heid said, "people who have never thought about surviving in case of emergency before."

Vic Rantala, founder of Minnesota-based Safecastle, which markets home shelters for protection against disasters such as hurricanes and chemical attacks, told the Monitor his company's revenues have more than doubled since 2007.

"If most people think of a survivalist as an armed loner with extreme views - there are folks like that out there, but there are many more in America who are simply involved in preparing for down times, lean times or disaster," Rantala, a former U.S. intelligence analyst, told the Monitor. "It's logical. It's common sense."

Last summer, an ABC News report said "there are worrying signs appearing in the United States where some … locals are beginning to hoard supplies." The report said some suppliers were concerned the U.S. government may be competing with consumers for stocks of storable food. Spokesman Bruce Hopkins of Best Prices Storable Foods told WND his company was having trouble obtaining No. 10 cans and other storable foodstuffs, in part, because the federal government was purchasing such large amounts. "We don't know why," Hopkins said. "The feds then went to freeze dried companies and bought most of their canned stock."

Black Blade: Survival is going mainstream. Safecastle mentioned in the article is where I do my a lot of my shopping for Mountain House and some canned goods.

You can see people stocking up along side you. Reasonable, intelligent people who know what is coming. But, so many more who will be in those long FEMA lines.

The bad times are going to be longer than a few weeks.

EVERY TIME I LOOK AT ALL OF THIS BOTTLED WATER AND think about what is about to happen, my skin goes cold.

Pretty much no more ammo is haveable lest you are willing to pay three times what it is worth?

Can I build a gun kit into a working system and rely upon it?

Practically ALL of the ammo has been taken and or does not any longer exist.

This Golden Bear 9mm ammo is so cool and works well in all of my systems. Why the HELL didn't I buy more of it?

Hang on folks! Stock up on food and water NOW!

Not sure this is the correct place for this post...But oh well here goes
Rather then everyone trying to stock up on canned corn, And bottled water, And Ammo.....doesn't it make more sense to get involved and do what we can to keep anything like what your worried about from happening!!!!.......It seems like everyone is down on our/your president....If you have a better idea....write it down and send it to him.....Let me be the first to say I did not vote for him....But someone sure as hell did or he would not be in office.....But in any case he is our president we have to back him up or what does that say about us as americans....As far as "Reasonable, intelligent people who know what is coming"...BullShit!!... No one knows what is coming.........And If you do and you can predict the future.....Please go ahead and give me the power ball numbers.....I can understand being prepared, But for what?? A war?? Who are you going to shoot with all that ammo?? Your neighbor??? Your friends???? Me?? WHO???......This is crazyness!!.....We all have ourselfs and seen people panic about things like this.......For alot of people they have no need to stock up on anything as they should already be stocked from Y2K......Stop and think for a min.....each and everyone of us is just a small spoke on a big wheel.....Very few are stock piling bottled water and can goods.....I go to the market 3 times a week and have yet to see any out of stock on bottled water or corn....Now on the other hand Ammo is a problem.....But in my opinion only because we made it a problem.....since the election All everyone has been saying is how obama's Going to take our guns....BullShit!!! he is not taking my guns...they are still where they have always been...The only thing I have seen happen so far is everyone panic.....And the dealers and parts suppliers stuff their pockets from our panic......rest asured it is not costing anymore now than a year ago to produce ammo, Yet the price is trippled......Someone is getting rich!!...... and that is fine that is how the free market works.....I am just pissed that it is not me....Quit buying all that ammo and the market will fix itself.......If you stop the demand!! ......You will Stop the price gauging!!......Send your ideas for a better tomorrow to congress......otherwise keep living in fear.....For me life is too short to be worried about dooms day...I put my faith and trust in God to take me home when he is ready for me....
One more thing.....I myself also wish I had bought more ammo......but not for the same reason as some.....As if I had a room filled with ammo.....I would sell it all to dooms dayers.... and retire....LOL....Come on you know that was funny....no pun intended

I really dont care about it..other than huntaing cals and pistol cals (which I use regularly anyway). I did stock up on 7.62 ammo, but will prob just sit on it instead of using it at the range since prices are SO high and I'm not setup to reload steel case stuff.
Being prepared isnt a bad thing, and I certainly CANNOT fault anyone for stocking up their homes with food and water..at any time.
Look at our country and imagine that a natural disaster the size of Katrina struck again.
It would put our country over the edge. Panic buying is the cause of the ammo shortage, but there is a FINE line between paranoia and being prepared.
Guns certainly dont work without ammo.

Some of us take personal responsibility for ourselves and our families. Others "trust in God" to take care of them. I have prepped for 4-5 years of supplies just in case. To those who "trust in God", I say good luck.

I can't attest to that, but myself and my family network lives in close proximity and we have enough between us to (as well as our immed neighbors) to survive off the grid for a LONG time without requiring any government assistance.
This includes guns. ammo, food, fuel, generators, meds, water, etc.
we have a plan and will stick to it

GOD intends for you to think for yourself. And, DO FOR YOURSELF!

Everyone here has seen what happened with ammo after panic sets in. A wise choice would be to improve your own situation by stocking up on food and water too. Not to mention electric power.

More military ammo is getting used in the wars and battles to come. 500 rounds is a good stock pile for personal defence.
