I don't think that I would go that far, as someone who is working on his Ph.D., I can assure that psychology is a very real and rigorous science. So while I can understand that some people can have a hard time understanding why psychology is a very real and powerful scientific discipline, I do have to stand up and take some issue with your assessment of my future profession.
Still, I don't think that having a local psychiatric evaluation will be fair when it is likely one of her colleagues evaluating him.

The only hard empirical science element in psy that I can see is "Behaviourism" a la B.F. Skinner. Never thought much of the esoterics like Carl Rogers and others. Although Skinner's experimentaion like the "aircrib" didn't always seem to work out as his own daughter killed herself. Anyway, psychiatry-psychology can be grossly abused by governing authorities (i.e. Siviet Union, National Socialist Germany, United States, etc.).
When you're born you get a ticket to the freak show. When you're born in America , you get a front row seat. - George Carlin
It says:
Anything you say can and will be used against you...
Nowhere does it say:
Anything you say may get your ass out of trouble...
People need to keep their mouth shut in this situation....
I have to agree with above, as a side comment, Psychiatrists get more people hooked on drugs than anyone else other than illegal Drug dealers. As far as this guy getting arrested, if he kept his mouth shut a lawyer could have explained away everything . I hope the NRA helps him out. The news
media is going to have a field day with this ( GUN OWNERS )at our expense.
They have a name and classification for everything now, instead of the broad categories they had when I took psychology in school. But dividing your pigeonholes finer and finer doesn't make them any more accurate.
"Science" means "the results are the same no matter who performs the observation." Psychology and sociology (other than statistical analysis of group actions) are not sciences. "Discipline", sure, but not science.
It would take more room than it's worth to explain why you're not accurate, but I assure you that EEG, MRI's, and PET scans are scientific tools that are extremely robust in exploring psychological phenomenon. You might think that statistical analysis of group responses is how all psychological research is conducted, but that is far from the truth. There are a variety of psychological techniques used in research that are as robust as you would find in any other science.
I assure you that if you took intro to psychology in college that you barely scratched the surface of what psychologists have done regarding research. Statistics are an important part of psychological research because there is variance in the response of individuals due to a host of biological, sociological, and psychological factors. Just as all people don't metabolize medications at the same rate because they are different, people also have different reactions to stimuli as well due to the same factors that can effect physiological systems.
If you hold biology to the same standard as psychology, you would have to say that biology is no more of a science because the phenomenon is not reliable in organisms. LD50, the amount of a drug that will kill half of the population taking it... why doesn't it kill everyone? Individual differences, some of which can't be elucidated because we simply don't have the technology to determine the difference.

-This is one reason America is going down the shitter. Nobody seems to raise their kids right.
-What does That tell you? YUCK!
I agree with BigAl: Opening your mouth will only hurt your case. You have everything to lose.
Fucking nosey people need to kill themselves too. I hate fucking assholes who always are so curious as to who you are, and what you are doing.

Tear gas grenades probably require a permit in those kinds of states.Gregory D. Girard, 45, was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly storing several tear gas grenades and explosive pepper ball projectiles. He was also charged with the illegal possession of four police batons.
"Pepper ball projectiles" sound to me like an AP round for something... bear deterrent shotshells?
If it were 37mm anti-riot projectiles then it requires DD registration. And I'll bet police batons do require some sort of local registration in those urban areas! But it sounds like a local case unless those rounds were 37mm stuff.
Curious on what are the charges they'll try to pin on him - sounds like they don't have much really. Strange case and really sad.
