Most of them that said I was goofy for stocking up 5 years ago now ask if they can come stay with us when it happens. Never ever tell them where you live!!!!! For that matter, don't even tell them you have prepped up!

+1, You can only prepare for immediate family, plus maybe a little extra for barter.

Only my immediate family knows my wife and I prep. I have made it clear to my kids to keep their mouths shut about the prepping if they expect to be able to survive with what we have on hand. I also have made it clear they need to bring EVERYTHING of prepping value when they come and leave EVERYTHING else behind because there won't be room for it. Also, the only ones that eat are those that work...

Prepping is the latest hot topic and TV and the print media will exploit that to sell time or papers and magazines. No matter how realistic or stupid their representation of it is.

Hey folks, its looking kind of ready to start up.

Whatever you need to get done, do so now.

Order food, water and, ammo now!

It may take a week or two to get there?

It is much easier to simply prep for yourself and your immediate family. I sat down with my in-laws, and asked them what they wanted me to do if the SHTF....

They said to take care of ourselves and the kids if we had to go. They even offered to help with $$$ if we needed it.

This is the gold standard of family.

My response was to help them to make their own preps. They declined. They declined everything. Food, weapons, training, meds, everything. They know that if the SHTF, they will not survive it, and they know that their presence would jeopardize the kids.

It is a hard thing to bear. I don't know that I can leave them behind. So, I include them in my calcs. Just the way it has to be. We will have to stand together.

I fervently hope that the day will never come. I can do a lot of really unsavory things, but that is not a decision that I want to ever have to make. I have been blessed with the greatest in-laws ever. I count them as my friends.

Good luck to all.
