No, there is no baffling of the flue pipe. It exits right at the top of the back wall of the stove. The only air movement restriction is made by the dampers on the top surface of the stove. They work great for air flow, you can choke it down to nothing and put the fire out or open them up and burn a load of seasoned oak in several hours if thats what your after.
As you can see the top surface is totally flat, other than the dampers. I get up in the mornings stir the coals and fill it up again. Open the dampers about 25-30% and generate enough heat on that top surface to perk my morning coffee. I am well pleased with it.
I haven,t got to talk to my cousin again about it yet. I'm gonna talk to him about drawing up some build plans if he has not done so. He probably has, he told me he has made 12-20 of them, I don't remember exactly how many.
