Default Bolt carrier with no chrome lining??

i saw on some mall ninja site where some fellow mall-ninja had seen a bolt carrier group that did not have the chrome lined insides where the bolt rides in the carrier.

now in my years of messing around with m-16's and ar-15s i don't recall ever running across a bolt carrier that was not chromed on the insides. all the carriers i know of are lined high end and even more budget models--

my question is has anyone encountered a bolt carrier that was not chromed on the inside?

I agree with what you said. I have never seen a BC without the chrome insides...

Of course this doesn't mean that somewhere/somebody hasn't made/produced a BC without the chrome inside.

In the context of ArmaLite (the original company) and Colt, the first bolt carriers (e.g., Colt Armalite Model 601[01]) were chromed all over, inside and out. When the change was made to Parkerizing, the interior of the bolt carrier continued to be chromed.

I've not seen a non-chromed bolt carrier interior, and indeed a bolt carrier not chromed inside would be impractical to the extreme. However, I'll keep my eyes open.

Regards,

Walt

i wonder if some of the imported ar15/m16 parts i keep hearing about might be not beproperly chromed on the insides?

i never handled the china made ar-15/m16. i sort of expected to come across some in the sand/litter box as we knew some were out there in the hands of the tribal insurgents.

just wondering if they might be the source of the non-chromed lined bc's i keep hearing in the scuttlebutt section? i have handled some Canadian and IDF and some other national made rifles and carbines--best i can recall all of them were chrome lined like US made parts.

It is a low budget after-market production. Nesard for one used to sell that junk back in the 80's. I see the non-chrome ones once in a while at the gun shows. Use it for a dummy gun.

PS If you'd read The AR-15 Complete Owner's Guide you'd have known that already!
PPS For extra credit, what's "Bohica"? That was another AR cloner.
