The little rubber plugs work well for tightening up the slop. I put one in my new DPMS, and now it's a bear getting that rear pin out. However, no slop at all. Good $6.00 investment.

Since we are talking about new DPMS AR's.... I just received my first one. Can someone tell me if this bolt looks like it should or if it looks dirty/used? To me it looks dirty, but as previously stated, its my first AR... This rifle was suppose to be brand new from the factory, so I want to make sure everything looks good.

Thanks,
~ Andy

ps.. i just ordered a Gapper

Thanks for the response. I don't see any pitting or damage, it just looks dirty. Not sure if this pic helps any more than the rest...

Does the dirt/marks on here look like dpms shot it once as a test fire or like the dealer rented the gun for a month?

Is it worth making a fuss over or should i just clean it and move on?

~ Andy

the bolt has been fired a few times for sure. could be as simple as it was test fired before being shipped. which many AR builders do. i know wouldn't ship one that hadn't had a couple rounds fired to make sure it is working.

Looks like a test fire to me. give it a little cleaning and have fun. It's all ways a good idea to clean any firearm before you go and shoot it for the first time. Just to check to make sure the barrel is clean and clear, get any packing grease off and to get a thin coat of oil on the important parts
