Default My new DSA Para

Had this in layaway forever! Way too far of a drive to that gun shop lol

Already I have a problem in that the aftermarket top cover with scope rail doesn't work with the Para main spring, because the Para main spring is retained by the top cover, instead of inside the buttstock. So now I have to modify this top cover to work or find a para-compatible scope rail/top cover.

The stock seems longer to me than in the pics I've seen of Rhody para folders. I wonder if DSA makes them longer like with the AK "Nato length" buttstocks? I may shorten it an inch... just seems LONG!

All I need to get it to the Rhody style is the grenade sight/shut-off and that's pretty much it. I may get one of those factory quick-release bipods as well. I like the folding charging handle since this one digs into you when slung, but I don't think the folding handle is correct for a Rhody.

Nice
Thanks for the pic, sorry about the top cover. Is it a Tapco? I got one if you want me to check it for you, but it most likely won't work anyway.

Yep its a Tapco top cover. The Para cover has a tab on the back with a spring guide extending forward. The Tapco cover is like a normal top cover with no tab at all. I figure I can tack weld a tab onto the back and try using a metal rod as a spring guide. It also needs the top area thinned out since the Para carrier is thicker (for the spring).

The eye relief on the Tapco is REALLY high - I have to lean really far forward to use the trilux sight.

I will say this - the para top cover has a "nose" on the front, and it keeps the carrier captive when assembling the parts. A little different, but VERY handy since you don't have to fight the spring!

I can only ever remember seeing a para scope mount cover made by dsa except for the stang mounts. They were a bit pricy though.

You bought a whole rifle? We don't take kindly to folks who buy complete rifles 'round these parts. Heck, I was askeared as to what folks might think when they found out that I built my FALs off of a couple of them fancy store bought receivers.
Tarnation, what's this place coming to?

Thanks it is a nice rifle - a bit spendy however

I can now get the specs off of the receiver and build my $40 FAL "paper weight" into a working receiver Heck I have actually entertained the idea to sell this one if my milling attempt actually works and I can build a frankenfal!

Now there's the Pook we all know and love

You know a young rascal with a BB gun might look on that tree in the background as a possible future target rich environment.
