I'm not sure how an "inadequate rule" put it's finger in the trigger guard and pulled...

This guy needs a lot of trigger time,but not on the plane. The only thing inadequateis is his inability to put his brain in gear before his trigger finger.

Did anybody bother to read the article? It said the pilot was following the rules to secure his handgun before he left the cockpit. This consisted of trying to insert a padlock through a hole in the holster to secure it through the triggerguard, one assumes behind the trigger. However, while juggling a handgun, holster, and padlock on his lap while simultaneously flying a huge jet he got the padlock in front of the trigger and it went boom. Assuming he is telling the truth, the TSA rules would seem unsafe at best.

Exactly, I'm in agreement with the kernel. It only takes a few moments to read the article. Give the guy the benefit of being innocent until proven guilty.

Yeah, the padlock and holster are mandated by the TSA, while putting it in a lockbox would be much safer, easier, and more secure. No wonder that's not allowed.
