The Alabama State Senate worked hard last week to pass two very important pro-gun bills before adjournment sine die on Friday, May 15. Senate Bill 296 passed out of the Senate by a vote of 30 to 0. SB 296, sponsored by State Senator Scott Beason (R-17), would protect our Second Amendment rights by prohibiting any government agency from confiscating firearms or regulating the lawful sale, possession, transfer, transport or carry of firearms during a state of emergency. House Bill 432 passed out of the Senate by a vote of 25 to 0. Sponsored by State Representative Jack Page (D-29), HB 432 would make all records pertaining to pistol permits confidential, only to be used for law enforcement purposes. Any public disclosure of this information would be a Class A misdemeanor. SB 296 and HB 432 both move on to the Governorâs desk for his consideration.
