Postak Ammunition Encoding Legislation Introduced in Alabama!

Last week, Senate Bill 541 was introduced by State Senator Rodger Smitherman (D-18). SB541 would require all handgun ammunition manufactured or sold in Alabama to be encoded with a serial number, and entered into a statewide database at the time of sale. Encoded ammunition would be registered to the purchaser and would include the date of transaction, the purchaser?s name, date of birth, driver?s license number, and the serial number of the ammunition. All unserialized ammunition would have to be forfeited. Not only would this measure cause enormous increases in the cost of ammunition, but it could lead to the establishment of a database of ammunition purchaser and ultimately the cessation of the sale of ammunition in Alabama.

They tried this crap in MD. We killed it. I would rest easy to see the socialist jerks that are tring to push this through tried for treason. And a second charge of conspiracy to create a monopoly. (only 1 company has the capabilties to encode ammo) Since no one seems to understand what treason is anymore.

This is a well thought out plan for the 1 guy that has the technology. Anyone supporting him needs to be voted out immediatly.

I've been following the posts on this subject and it still baffles me as to what good could come out of it passing. What if the criminal picks up the ejected casings after firing? What if some one gets murdered at a gun range after hours? Good luck finding the correct case among the hundreds on the ground. Because it can be done doesn't mean it should be done. Kind of like the red light cameras, How many accidents have they stopped versus how many have they caused? We need the courts to do their job, not more regulation and hardship on law abiding citizens.

Crime has nothing to do with it. Read the proposals. They all include forfieture of existing ammo or face charges. This is a scam to keep bullets away from YOU.

Thats exactlly what its all about. Think about all the stolen firearms out there and all the guns that can't be traced back to someone that are in the hands of criminals. If the government can't keep firearms out of their hands what makes them think they will be able to do the same with ammo. You can bet criminals won't turn in their ammo for encoded stuff. And what about the bullets being deformed from striking an object? If the encoding is damaged or removed then what good is it. Make no mistake some people in the government want your guns and are willing to take the long way around the barn approach to take them away from you. They know an outright ban won't fly so this is their current attempt at disarming you.

It'll kill ammunition sales eventually and handloading immediately. If you can't control the guns, control what feeds'em.

I totally agree that that is the agenda. My thoughts were that the pea brained socialist that are pushing this think that this will be a way to combat crime. All or most of us are already in a data base as a gun owner if we had to register a gun or fill out the BATF form to buy anything. I'm waiting on my FFL-03 and CW to come back now. That's alot of info about you and me that they already know. I guess that if what they are trying to do made sense, that would make me a pea brained socialist too. NO THANKS.

WHAT A GREAT WAY TO PIN A CRIME ON SOMEONE ELSE. JUST THROW A HAND FULL OF SOMEONE ELSES CASES DOWN AT THE SCENE. DO THE THINK CRIMINALS WONT JUST GET AMMO FROM SOME WERE ELSE. OR LOAD IT THEM SELVES. STOLEN AMMO WILL NOW BE A HOT COMODITY FOR GANGS TO DEAL IN.
