Canada: Long gun data finally, finally gone; Conservatives can now tackle Firearms Ac
On Thursday night, a spokesperson for Public Safety Minister Vic Toews confirmed that the last of the data contained within the federal long gun registry (less that pertaining to Quebec) has been destroyed. While the Quebec data is protected pending the resolution of a dispute between Ottawa and Quebec over who "owns" the data, for the other nine provinces and territories, the average shotgun and hunting rifle is no longer tracked by the federal government.
