Colorado Democrats draw fire on guns
The game wasn't the only thing Republicans were betting on Super Bowl Sunday. They knew Colorado Democrats were going to unveil their gun package that week at the Capitol, and speculation mounted on what would be in it.They. Were. Shocked.Senate President John Morse, a Colorado Springs Democrat, announced he was working on a bill that would hold manufacturers and sellers of assault style weapons legally liable for damage inflicted with such firearms.Even some Democrats shook their heads."That's crazy. That's absolutely nuts," said Rep. Ed Vigil, D Fort Garland.Since the announcement, theories have swirled about the Capitol as to whether Morse is using his bill as a bargaining chip to get other gun legislation through or if he's committing a political blunder that could tip the balance of power in the Senate after the 2014 election.
