Yesterday, Weston Town Selectman Dennis Tracey issued a press release regarding his proposed changes to the town’s existing firearms ordinance. As currently drafted, this ordinance would ban the ownership and possession of any “firearm or other weapon” in the Town of Weston unless one obtains a permit for the ownership of these lawfully possessed items and registers them with the town chief of police. Failure to comply would result in a $500 fine. This misguided and far-reaching gun ban would severely limit your right to self-defense and would subject law abiding citizens to discriminatory fees and regulatory schemes.
