Postak Ireland: Gun owners challenge Gardao's refusal of licenses

A number of legal challenges brought by shooting enthusiasts against refusals by gardao to issue the gun owners with certificates for restricted firearms, has commenced before the High Court. In three cases before the court, the gun owners are seeking orders quashing the Gardao's refusal to issue them with licenses. They claim the Gardao's refusal amounts to a breach of their constitutional rights and amounts to a fixed policy of not issuing licenses for guns that can be legally held.

The term is not garao its Gardai or Guard's

I have a Irish Fac a few years back members of my hunting ( shooting) & fishing club started receiveing permits to own handguns and man they went for it but again the calibers had to be non -military like 9 x21mm and 380 and 22 cal, they also have no laws about concealed carry so lots of tha lads started carrying for fun but its illegal to use a firearm in self defense. for years illegal handguns floated around, ammo came from truck transports out of france, belgium and germany
some guard stations will issue no problem other's will not like NJ, NY, MD, Kaliforina

BTW it's Garda Síochána.
