Postak Mexican Police Chief Wants Armed Citizenry

Ramon Almonte, the Guerrero state police chief, said on Monday he will ask the federal congress to make it easier for common citizens to get permits for weapons to defend themselves. Almonte's brother was killed on Jan. 1 in a rural town in Guerrero by unidentified gunmen. The state has been plagued by such executions. "When you fight someone and at least you have a 'piece,' the person who is attacking you might think twice," Almonte said. "We cannot go on the way we are."

Can't the cops down there "deputize" people like they did in the old days to form posse's and such? Rarely done these days, but AFAIK, the cops in the USA can still deputize anybody, at least temporarily. Take all those confiscated guns and ammo and ask for volunteers. Raise your right hand and say "I'm a Deputy", here's your assault rifle and 400 rounds of ammo, do us proud!

Yes, they could...But will not. It would erode their power and prestige.

This will not go anywhere. Too bad. The Mexicans have everything they need to be our equal....Just like Canada. They will never get there.

But Sheriff Joe did just that in Arizona. Lot of citizens raised their hand and are helping Joe rid his A.O. of the vermin illegals.
Dont think they carry guns? But they fill in, I guess, too help the manpower of the Deputies who can do Police work.

"Maricopa County is in the south central part of Arizona (county seat: Phoenix), about 100 miles from the international border with Mexico. Nearly 3,000 volunteers have played a part in Sheriff Arpaio’s posse.
