In the past, when a concealed pistol license was renewed, the issue date was whatever date the gun board approved it and the expiration date was the person's birthday. However, with the license valid for not less than four or more than five years, some people had lapses in coverage if the gun board met after their birthdays. Now, all renewed licenses are effective on the date the previous ones expire or on the date of the gun board meeting, whichever is later. The licensee's birthday remains the expiration date.
