Mayor David Miller wants to close recreational shooting ranges in Toronto, along with giving the city power to block gun manufacturers and wholesalers from opening new plants or warehouses.

"Nobody can deny that hobby directly results in people being shot and killed on the streets of our city," Miller said of sport shooting yesterday, amid debate on a possible gun bylaw.

Maybe they should close Rogers Centre in order to keep people from being clubbed to death.

maybe they should ban automobiles cause there might be a crime or a deadly accident involving one?

or they should ban doctors and hospitals because they might kill some-one trying to treat their ills???

lets just ban electricity because someone might get killed by it???

Cars on american freeways each year: 60,000, despite all the improvements and safety devices.

Power companies, spending huge amounts on public info, have maintained tremendous safety.
I think the answer, and the relative dangers, are pretty clear.

I don't know about Canada, but at my range in the US there is as many LEOs shooting at the range as civilians. Shutting down the ranges will mean that that LEO that may not be a good enough shot to stop a bad guy from putting a hole in Mayor David Millers brain pan. Oooh, I would hate to see that happen.
