Nebraskaâs Attorney General Issues Opinion on Omahaâs Preemption Violation, Legislatu

On Friday, March 26, Attorney General John Bruning (R) issued an opinion stating that the city of Omaha was violating state laws. During the 2009 legislative session, the legislature passed LB 430, which gives the state the sole authority to regulate statewide conceal carry laws. City officials of Omaha refused to acknowledge that this would also apply to the draconian handgun registration requirement and have continued to enforce the ordinance in a violation of state law.
