New York: Albany creating variety of problems for sportsmen
The proposed law would have required a semiautomatic handgun manufactured or sold in New York to imprint an identifier on the shell casing when the gun was fired. Gun owners and manufacturers argued that the microstamping feature could easily be circumvented by altering the gun, and that compliance would unnecessarily drive up costs.
