New York: Comment Period Open in Proposed Pro-Hunting Plans for Montezuma National Wi
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) has drafted a plan to guide management of the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge for the next 15 years. This 9,184-acre refuge is located in Cayuga, Seneca and Wayne Counties and was established in 1938 to provide nesting, feeding, and resting habitat for waterfowl and other migratory birds. In the drafted plan, three alternatives are presented for public review. Alternative A would keep things as they currently are. Alternative B would open new opportunities and more accessible sites for hunting. Alternative C is similar to Alternative B, but would leave waterfowl hunting in its current state.
