On March 11, Governor Dennis Daugaard (R) signed House Bill 1149 into law. Sponsored by state Representative Brian Gosch (R-32), this bill provides that a legal South Dakota āresidentā can obtain a concealed pistol permit. This legislation cleans up a state law that restricted concealed pistol permits to ācitizensā only. The issue was brought to the attention of lawmakers after the state was sued by a legal U.S. resident and British national who was denied a permit.
