On May 9, the Oklahoma Senate approved Senate Bill 1760 by an overwhelming majority, and today voted to pass Senate Bill 1733. SB 1760 will guarantee “Emergency Powers” firearm protections during declared states of emergency, while SB 1733 is an omnibus firearms bill which contains significant improvements to Oklahoma firearms laws. Both measures now go to Governor Mary Fallin for her signature. Your NRA-ILA continues our work to assist passage of additional legislation to expand firearm freedoms in the Sooner State, such as Senate Bill 1743, the “Landowner’s Hunting Freedom Act.” Please remember to contact your state Senator and Representative to encourage his or her support of Senate Bill 1743. The Oklahoma Legislature must finish their business by May 25, but an early adjournment is possible.
