On Wednesday, May 19, the Louisiana Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 534, which would bring Louisiana into agreement with a recently passed federal law that allows the carrying and possession of firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges in accordance with applicable state carry laws. In addition, Senate Bill 526, has come to a halt in the Louisiana Senate which grants a temporary victory for gun owners in the Pelican State. SB526, introduced by State Senator Edwin R. Murray (D-4), would prohibit firearms on all property belonging to the New Orleans Sewage and Water Board.
