Today, October 2, the City of Kingsport will hold a public hearing to discuss the adoption of a new Code of Ordinances for the city.  Among these new ordinances is one that would make it illegal for persons to carry a firearm in a city park, or any building or facility operated by the city for park or recreational purposes.  Law-abiding gun owners who possess a valid handgun carry permit would not be exempted from this ordinance thus restricting their self-defense rights.
