This past Friday, January 21, was the last day for bill introduction in the Virginia General Assembly and one legislator attempted to slide a bill under the radar. Delegate Betsy Carr (D-69) introduced House Bill 2524, which seeks to ban the sale, barter or transfer of any firearms magazine that are designed to hold more than 20 rounds of ammunition. Del. Carr seems to be following the playbook of longtime anti-gun Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), who recently introduced H.R. 308, the âLarge Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Actâ, which in addition to banning the manufacture and importation of new magazines will also make it illegal to transfer currently owned magazines.
