Today, the Senate Privileges & Elections Subcommittee voted to refer SB 1213, sponsored by state Senator Ralph Smith (R-22), to the full committee. Senate Bill 1213 would provide that the State Board of Elections, in cooperation with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, would make mail voter registration application forms available where hunting and fishing licenses are sold. Senate Bill 1346, an identical bill to SB 1213 and introduced by state Senator Thomas Norment (R-3), was rolled into Senator Smith's bill before referral.
