Law enforcement officials in Mercer County said Wednesday they have noticed an increase in the number of residents applying for permits to carry concealed weapons over the past several years. According to Mjr. D.B. Bailey with the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, more than 4,000 Mercer County residents have permits to carry concealed weapons. Bailey said the number of people applying for these permits has been steadily increasing over the past several years.
