Default 223

I'm buying a saiga 223. Can you shoot the 5.56 through it?

If I'm not mistaken, 5.56 is the .223.. Just depends on where it's made and boxed. Like the .308 vs. 7.62x51.(same thing). Chamber pressures might be a little different but should cycle. But why the .223 ? You can have more knockdown power from the 7.62x39 or the 7.62x51..

Yes. All I shoot through mine is milsurp. The .223 is the most versitile for mags. You can adapt to Galil, AR, even use AK74's if adapted right, and still use the factories.

5.56 has thicker brass, but the pressure difference caused by that is insignificant in a well built gun...

That's true, but the Saiga has no issues with it.

mine doesnt have any issues with it and niether does any we have sold to our customers and family that Ive been told ,so I guess the answer to your question is nope no issues at all. You may have to adjust the piston setting due to the higher pressure but usually not.
