The semi parts were shipped friday, they should be here monday, the flash hiders came in saturday, so everything needed to finish will be in house monday.
I started assembling the barrels onto the receivers today, it takes about an hour per gun.
first the barrels are turned, then pressed into the receiver. the receiver holes were reamed and honed to get them straight and round before hand.
the barrels are pressed in with a head space gage till they stop, then the flaps need to be checked to make sure both are making contact, which they usually do not so the longer flap needs to be trimmed.
When both are making contact the next step is to drill and ream the cross pin hole.
After drilling & reaming the cross pin hole the pins are pressed in.
then the charging handles are fitted and it is on to the next one.
here is today's result. I started with standard builds with GI barrels, I have about 5 more of these to do. then I will do the ones with new US barrels then the custom guns. I should have this phase of the builds done by friday.
