Default 56S folding Bayonet question?

Q: Is it possible to install the folding spike 56s bayonet lug assembly on a Polish under-folder AK?

Seems the Norinco 56S AK's are hard to find, and expensive when you do.

I purchased the bayonet lug / front sight block assembly with a complete folding spike bayonet on Gunbroker recently.

Looks like I just have to remove 2 pins in the barrel? (I work in R&D for a Defense Contractor and I have lots of sheet metal / Aerospace experience.)

This cant be " that hard ".

I REALLY want an underfolder with a folding spike bayonet.

Otherwise i must sell some things to buy a under-folder Norinco with a spike bayonet.

Thoughts?

Anyone done this before?

Thank you.

The Chinese barrel components are AK47 pattern vs the Polish barrel which is AKM pattern. The Polish barrel diameter is smaller than the Chinese spike FSB.
You can purchase a MAK90 and deban it and add that spiker FSB.

If you have a lathe you can make a bushing to sleeve the FSB down to the barrel. The walls will be very thin; it might be most practical to do it as two shorter bushings.

I was lucky that my Mossberg .410 barrel was just a bit bigger than my Chinese barrel hardware, so that part of my double-underfolder .410 AK project turned out OK...

A .010 thin walled sleeve would work if you strip the barrel from the receiver., sleeve it and turn it while on the barrel. But I do not think that is a common home builder remedy. In this case just pick a rifle that the assembly will fit.., and there are Chinese MAK's out there that are more appropriate to the part anyhow. IMHO.

Thanks for the replies.( on Gunbroker) Look for a seller named "Parsi", I bought the whole folding bayonet assy with lug for $195.00. He seems to have mutiples of them.

I am not affiliated with him, just trying to spread the word these Norinco Assemblies are out there.

I looked for months for SKS bayonet lugs to retrofit my post 94 ban guns, but could not find any lugs. I have sold off all of my AK's and SKS's that were post ban guns.

So you were planning to buy a Polish to add the bayonet to? Just buy a MAK90 and deban it.
