Question Romy AK pistols

Anyone have one of these Romy pistols. I was looking at one at my local fun shop about two weeks ago. The guy behind the counter said the entire gun is made in Romania, not rebuilt from a kit here. Finish was typical rough Romanian and the muzzle nut was spot welded to the barrel. It looked interesting and a lot cheaper than a true Krinkov. Anyone have one that can tell me about function and reliability?

And this says they are made in Romania

I think some of the first one were made here by Century but it looks like they are coming in from Romania now. Maybe they are like the WASR-10s, coming in as single stack mags and converted for high cap here?

They are completely made in romania with all romanian parts. They are pistols not rifles and as a pistol they are not required to be 922r compliant.
Just dont put a forward pistol grip on it (it would become an AOW)
or a buttstock of any kind (it would become an SBR)
I have not heard anything bad about them, they shoot a big fireball out the muzzle and are kinda hard to be used in any real tactical role but they work just fine and are really cool.

completly dissagree I shoot mine out to 200 yards on deer an it shoots 1" groups at 100 yards. just add a scope or red dot and shoot it head down on the dust cover with the trigger in the same position as a archery release. it is likley better as a an entery weapon than a AK rifle in this configuration.

The amd 65 pistol has taken nurmerous deer over the last few years including two bucks at 225 yards back to back. it shoots 1" groups fairly consistanly. the pistol for sale above likely can come close with a scope or red dot. im quicker with these than normal deer rifles.

im not shooting deer with mine (as my barrel is too short, legally) but ive got no trouble hitting gallon jugs at 30yds.

ive never seen a intruder smaller than a gallon jug.

my next one is gonna have an even shorter barrel and will be my CC gun.

Coils, that is the gun I was taking about. The guy at the shop said they were all Romanian made and like Bossman says, imported whole because they are considered pistols. Since I had not heard of any romy pistols before, I didn't know if they were cut down rifles when they started life. Workmanship was typical rough looking Romanian, and if they were cut down here, I was wondering about performance issues. But, thanks to all of your imput, looks like they are actually made as pistols in Romania.

Just caught my eye as they are about half to third the cost of a Bulgarian or other pistol.

I never got to handle one, only seen the ads. They are most likely cut down rifle barrels and I think you'd have to look them over closely like the WASR series rifle for any craftsmenship issues. Don't worry about the finish, the Romanians didn't worry about it either ,you just have to look past it and look at the mechanicals.

Coils, that's exactly what I was thinking. I was just wondering if anyone on here actually owns one that could give a report of function. From what little I've found on this and other sites, some have had no problems, but others have had failure to feed, etc. I may go back and give it a closer inspection. At the time, I was looking at another rifle.
