    Thumbs down AKParts.Com

First let me say that I have bought items from AKParts.com without problems, but this time I got really annoyed.

On Jul 1, I ordered a "GRADE A", AMD-65 kit. The website and the order confirmation email both said "IN STOCK". After waiting 12 days (they usually ship quite fast) for my order, I emailed AKParts.com to inquire about my order. I received an email stating that my order was "BACKORDERED" and that they expected to receive a shippment of "Grade A" kits in 3 days. WTF..."IN STOCK means "IN STOCK" right?

So I waited and still no info on my order. I emailed them again after 21 days of placing my order. I received a reply stating that there were no "Grade A" kits available and that they would offer me a "Grade B or C" plastic grip kit for the same price, plus some rivets (not the correct swell-neck type) or bolts with the kit.

It was at this time I found out that they had charged my credit card on Jul 6th, also that the phone number listed for the C/C purchase was a company in Brooklyn, New York, not AKParts.com in Horse Cave, KY. Worried that I was about to loose my money, I refused their offer and asked for a refund which they did (I did prepare the necessary info for my C/C company to dispute the charges).

The thing that got me going was, they never explained why their website and email confirmation email stated "IN STOCK" but they didn't have the item. I beleive that this company overbooked (like airlines do seats) what they had in stock. They did state that the order confirmation only notifies the customer that they have received the order, not that it has been filled, processed or shipped. To me "IN STOCK" means "IN STOCK" period!

This post is just to let anyone dealing with AKParts.com., that just because the website/order confirmation email states that the item is "IN STOCK" doesn't mean it is.

The time wasted waiting for a supposed "IN STOCK" item prevented me for buying it elsewhere and the "Grade A" kit was available at the time from another vendor (I have proof of that).

I will say in their behalf, that AKParts.com did answer my emails and did refund my money. However I am disappointed in not receiving what was listed as "IN STOCK".

In lieu of what has transpired, I have decided not to do business with AKParts.com. but will use other vendors for my wants. I'm sorry, but I need to know if the item is available or not. Not wait for almost a month to find out I have to buy somewhere else.

I haven't ordered from these guys yet. They're just a middleman to other suppliers. Their Romy AK, RPK, MP34, Uzi, and Yugo kits come from Centerfire Systems. Why not call Lois and save $5 and eliminate the middle man?!?

I thought I was going to save a few bucks and get one of their used Romy kits. I think it was 80.00 I got it in a few days. It has very little blue on it. No cleaning rod or brake. The only consolation is the bore is in great shape. After all that I should have stuck with Scott for a few dollars more would have a nicer kit. Don't think I will use them much either.

I met Chris from AK parts and he seems to be a decent guy, but he does get his stuff from CF. I wonder where he was going to get an AMD65? I bought one of the last ones that CF had back in late June? There were 7 left then and I got one of them.

    Default My 2 cents worth

I just recently bought two romy ak kits from AKparts and was worried when I could not find a phone number to check on the status after my first email went unanswered, however after a second email, Chris called me back promptly and I recieved my kits quickly after that. The kits were exactly as described. I do think he held the line and did not raise his prices when he could have. He did well by me.

Of course I did know I was ordering a Used B or less grade when I started. It will look great when I'm done!

My yugo and romy were both in good shape from Akparts. I will continue to order from them and I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I know I would be pissed.
So far they haven't given a reason to get mad. Quick email response and good product.

As I have stated in my first post, I have had good deals with AKParts.com also.

I just wish that this one (I really wanted that "Grade A" kit) worked out as well as the previous.

    For warned is for armed.
