    Default Centerfire AK74

Got my 74 from Centerfire (Lois) this morning. It is really nice. I think the demilling is way better than the K-var 74 I got several weeks ago. If you have not seen the Centerfire offer you are really missing out. Be sure to go through Lois. Jack

I just received my 74 from Centerfire today as well. The demill job on mine was absolutely piss poor! It is worse than the pics of the K-Var stuff. There is no resemblance of any countersinks on the trunnion anymore, just ball end mill holes! No matter... It's easy to weld and remachine the botched up parts. I could send them back, but I can fix them quicker than getting them replaced.

Other than the trunnion, the kit is freakin' nice! The upper handguard has a really interesting lamination pattern. The layers are kinda wavy lookin. The handguard isn't screwed up or anything, it's just a cool pattern. The rest of the parts are typical Centerfire (FANTASTIC).

I'm not really put off by the trunnion as it's an easy fix for me, but some others might want to have Centerfire replace the kit with one that isn't overly demilled.

I'm thinking about making a folder instead of the stock that comes with the kit. I really never liked them. Jack

I sent my K-var kit back for an exchange, it was atrocious.
I'll report on the replacement, when I receive it.

Exactly, The kit itself was cherry, but it looked like it was demilled by a blind orangutan using a pick axe.
