Kvar AK74 kits
I was waiting to see what Kvar was going to do for me, before publicly posting these.
The rivet holes should be .157 some of these measure .273.
The trunnion is .100 thick, these holes are .045 deep, almost half way through.
Some are off by half a hole.

Max--
Not that it would be the optimal solution, but you can take your new mig welder and close them up.
The holes can be redrilled.
Good thing you're all calm and collected from your vacation. And K-var just sent me an offer open to the people that bought those-- could I claim some of the extra material they cut off?

Track & Confirm
Current Status
Your item was delivered at 9:35 am on May 14, 2004 in LAS VEGAS, NV 89146.
I didn't get it shipped out until the 12th, according to the PO they received Friday morning.
Hopefully I'll be hearing from them shortly.
Winn,
I thought of that, but I was concerned about screwing up the heat treating of the trunnion.
If they were not willing to replace it, I probably would have gone that route.
It cost me $17.50 to ship it back, I will be bringing that to their attention, maybe they will give a credit on my next order or something.
I'll let you all know what I here from them.
Max

Max--I've got some new '74 trunnions with the receiver piece still on. Let me know if you need 'em.
And I ordered a couple of their $100 barrels-- We'll see.

Just got the barrels.
They did a good job removing the pieces-- trunnion's untouched.
All matching #'s, brand new; everything except the rear trunnion, furniture, fcg, and trigger guard.
Not bad for $100 shipped.

I gotta tell you guys, so far I'm not too impressed with K-var.
This was my first transaction with them and in all likelihood my last.
I spoke with Bob again yesterday, asking on the progress of my replacement kit.
I returned it with delivery confirmation, K-var received on 5/14 at 9:35 AM.
So they've had it in their possession for two weeks.
Bob tells me that he hes not had a chance to look at it yet.
WTF, two weeks and he hasn't even looked at it?
Anyway he tells me that he will look at it today.
I said look at what? I sent you pics of the damage, before I even returned it.
So then He asked me if I returned the mag with the kit.
I said yes, I returned everything including the mag, in the original box I received it in.
He then proceeds to tell me that there was a mistake made on the original shipment.
He said because I live in MA, they were not supposed to ship me a mag, and the replacement kit would not include one, even though I received one with the first kit.
I explained to him that 10 plus mags are legal to own and use if you have a class A permit to carry.
I offered to send him a scan of my class A permit, He says OK "I'll see what I can do".
I then asked him about a credit for the $17.50 it cost me for return shipping.
He says he can't do anything about that, and asks why I didn't get a call tag from them.
I told him that option was never offered to me, I was just told to return it to his attention.
So the way it stands now, I won't have my kit for at least another week, it is probably not going to come with a mag, and I'm out $17.50 for shipping.
I'm somewhat less than thrilled with the whole deal.

Spoke with Bob again.
Supposedly, my replacement kit is on it's way.
He acknowledged receiving my class A permit and stated he's "pretty sure" they included the mag.

Well, I finally received my replacement from K-Var.
This one is acceptable, although I'm still not sure why it took 3-1/2 weeks from the time they received the first one back.
All in all, I think I'll stick to Centerfire and Global for my future kit purchases.
