MFS Hungarian 7.62x39 Ammunition
Hi everybody, just got back from an afternoon of shooting and thought I'd give people the heads up. I bought 200 rounds of this white-boxed 'MFS' 7.62x39, steel-cased hungarian ammunition headstamped from the early 70's, and it's some real worthless shit.
On the 2nd or 3rd round fired, the hammer went click but no bang. I let it sit for a minute and pulled out the round. The primer had been hit cleanly but the round hadn't gone off. I tossed it away and eventually continued. A few minutes later it happened again. I thought maybe I got a bad box so I loaded up a different one, and by the time it was done it happened again. After 40 rounds, 3 of which had failed to fire after the primer had been hit, I put the gun and ammo away and called it quits.
I bought the stuff at a local dealer because it's the only non-commercial-factory rounds available where I live. I wanted wolf, but the dealer, who I know and is a good guy, said this stuff was supposed to be good. I'll be taking it back I guess to try to get my money back or exchange it for some other ammo.
Anyways the stuff comes in square 20-rd. white boxes and is labeled 'MFS'. The headstamps on all the failed rounds were dated '72. I suggest everyone steer clear of this stuff.
